UNVEILING HISTORICAL PROBLEMS: TEMPORALITY AND CAUSALITY IN TEACHING HISTORY ABSTRACT: This article discusses the question of the teaching History from the idea of historical explanation, relying on Jörn Rüsen's theory of History and principles of Historical Education. Two essential elements in the explanatory narratives produced by the students are investigated: time and causality. As important components of the construction of students' historical knowledge, if insufficiently developed in the daily school life, lead to inconsistencies in the production of explanatory historical narratives.
